Frequently Asked Questions
Is the shipping included?
Shipping of the test kit to you, and the required overnight shipment of your sample back to the lab are all included. You must use the shipping label and package included in the test kit.
Is the blood draw fee included?
The cost of the blood draw is included in your purchase (pediatric blood draw not included). Once you receive the test kit, you will be able to login online and look for approved blood draw sites in your area. You will also have the option to choose a mobile blood draw to come to your home at an additional $45 paid to the lab on the website.
Can I go to a draw center of my own choosing that is not contracted with this package?
Non-contracted labs are not covered in this package’s fees and services. No refunds will be offered if you use a non-contracted lab. Phlebotomy services at non-contracted facilities are the responsibility of the patient.
Is this package appropriate for kids?
This package is appropriate for pediatric patients under 16 years of age. Pediatric blood draw for patients under 16 years of age is not included in this package. Pediatric blood draws must be scheduled by the parents at a laboratory of their choosing, and must be paid for by the parents at the time of service.
Is there any medication that can interfere with the test?
Immunosuppressant and corticosteroid drugs (topical steroid is ok) can create false negative results. If you are taking those medications, you will want to wait 60 days after pausing medication to do the test. If stopping the medication is not possible, you should not order this test.
Do I need to fast for this test?
This test does not require fasting. It’s best not to eat a very fatty meal beforehand.
Is this covered by insurance?
This package is not considered medically necessary by the insurance company and therefore not covered by insurance. Outside of an itemized receipt, we do not provide CPT codes or additional documentation that insurance companies sometimes request. With your purchase, you agree that you will not ask for superbill or any documentation related to insurance reimbursement.
How long until I get results?
2-3 weeks after sample submission. Our team will be in contact with you to keep you updated throughout. You will receive a scheduling link once Dr. Kan has analyzed your test result and your intake form.
What if I live outside the US?
This test package is discounted to provide the most value. We are not able to offer this to clients outside the U.S through this offer. You may still be able to get the test through normal one-on-one consultation process with Dr. Kan. Please email info@askdrkan.com and request a new client case review.
Can I just get the test without Dr. Kan consultation?
This test is highly technical and can be misinterpreted by those without proper training. Dr. Kan cannot offer the test without personally going over the test results with you. By purchasing this package, you are agreeing to completing the new client intake forms with your health history before your consultation, and receiving your test results only after your consultation.
